In some cases you may wish to remove personal data but leave applications and other settings as they are. For example, you may give or sell your device to someone else. Use the steps below to remove certain bits of personal information.
Note: These instructions show how to remove some parts of personal information such as contacts, emails, calendar data and user files. This process will not remove core systems files such as the device lock code, Bluetooth security, SMS, MMS, faxes, SyncML sync status and other items.
To Clear Contacts
- Press the Contacts application key
- Press Ctrl + A to select all contacts
- Press Ctrl + D
- Select Delete
To Clear the file system
- Open the file manager (by default, press Desk > Office > File Manager)
- Select the files or folders you wish to delete
- Press Menu > File > Delete (or press Ctrl + D)
Remove Desktop Notes or other Desktop Shortcuts
- Press the Desk application key
- Select the Note or Shortcut you wish to delete
- Press Menu > File > Delete (or press Ctrl + D)
Remove BlackBerry Connect Data
To avoid deleting this data from the server, follow the steps below in the order indicated.
- Remove BlackBerry Service Books
- Press the Messaging application key
- Press Ctrl + Shift + T
- Highlight BlackBerry then select Edit
- Scroll to Service info tab
- Highlight Service book records
- Press View record
- Select Delete record
- Press Delete
- Select OK
- Press Done
Repeat the steps above for each email service book in your Nokia 9300.
- Stop the BlackBerry Connect Service
- Press the Messaging application key
- Press Ctrl + Shift + T
- Highlight BlackBerry then select Edit
- In the General tab, scroll to Enable service
- Select Change and select No
- Press Done
- Remove BlackBerry Messages
- Press the Messaging application key
- Highlight the BlackBerry Inbox (or other messaging folder)
- Press Ctrl + A to select all messages in current folder
- Press Ctrl + D
- Select Delete
- Remove Calendar Data
- Press the Calendar application key
- Press Shift + Ctrl + D
- Select Options
- Scroll to Time period
- Select Change
- Highlight Whole calendar
- Select the Ok
- Select the Done
- Select the Ok
